Message from the organizers: The session will be held on 5/22/24, from 9:30am - 1pm, at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (475 E. Waterfront Dr, Homestead, PA 15120). A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
This session is meant for anyone who cares about children in Allegheny County, including those of you who are participating in the Office of Child Development's 2023-24 SEL Communities of Practice (with families, higher education, elementary educators, school leaders, and early childhood educators), funded by SEEKS/AIU.

PittServes, The Corner, and The Young Dreamers' Bookstore’ teamed up for a fun filled Sports Day at the University of Pittsburgh’s Dome. During the event, I read an inspirational book titled Happy Dreamer and facilitated an exercise where students reflected on their dreams. At the end of the event, students selected to books that will inspire them to pursue and advance their dreams!

Dreaming with the Authors

The Young Dreamers’ Bookstore in partnership with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, presents Dreaming with Authors featuring Pittsburgh author Kelly Starling Lyons. This event will kick-off with an introduction to the author followed by an overview of her works including Miles Lewis Book King of the Ice, Jada Jones Book Series, Sing a Song, My Hands Tell a Story, and Ty Travels Book Series. Mrs. Starling Lyons will then read her award-winning book My Hands Tell a Story.
Following the presentation and reading, Mrs. Lyons will participate in a short Q&A session with the audience, moderated by Dr. Nosakhere Griffin-EL, and items will be available for purchase onsite at a pop-up The Young Dreamers’ Bookstore.
