YDBS Partners with The Ellis School to Offer Professional Development, Books, & Student Enrichment

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with The Ellis School!

On January 25th 2023, our CEO, Nosakhere Griffin-EL, Ph.D., led a teacher workshop on designing dream-centered learning experiences using books featuring Black protagonists. This workshop provided us with the opportunity to dream out loud! During the workshop, books were purchased for teachers’ classroom libraries.

On February 2, 2023, he returned to Ellis as the guest speaker at the African-American Read-In Lower School Assembly. Let me tell you, we had a fun time! He discussed dreams and dreamers in Black History who made the world a better place. The program concluded with Dr. Griffin-EL telling the students that they too could become bold, creative, innovative, loving, and learning dreamers who grow up to make the world a better place. During the keynote, students from the upper school read books to the lower level students.

We want to thank Dr. Denise LaRosa, EdD, for making this partnership a reality! Thank you, Dr. LaRosa, and Dr. Jamie Schiff, PhD, for creating a welcoming, inspiring, and engaging environment.

We look forward to this amazing partnership where we could continue to dream-out-loud and inspire this generation of young dreamers! #blackhistorymonth.
