An Amazing Reading Event at Bellevue Elementary
On this past Friday, I had an amazing time at Bellevue Elementary School in the Northgate School District. The No Place for Hate Parent Group hosted a three part event, which included the unveiling of the Diverse Little Library, a book swap, and story-time program. During the story-time event, I served as one of the readers. Serving as a reader allowed me to meet so many young dreamers who had big dreams, bright minds, magical gifts, and kind hearts.
I had the honor and pleasure of reading these young dreamers I Promise by LeBron James. Reading this book sparked great conversations around who they are and who they want to be. When the program ended, I left feeling inspired by the kids’ vibrantly-hopeful outlook on their dreams. As I reflect on this experience, it reminds me of Whitney Houston’s song titled The Greatest Love. In the song, she says,
“I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.”
On Friday, I met young dreamers who had amazing adults who are teaching them to be creators of a better world!
I like to thank ]the Bellevue Elementary School PTO for extending an invitation to their warm and welcoming learning community to my family and I !
